The lawyer Fabio Pagnozzi, representing the former federal congresswoman Carla Zambelli, stated this Friday (26) that the Brazilian Supreme Court A Brazilian is orchestrating a "legal maneuver" to facilitate the extradition of the parliamentarian from Italy. According to him, the objective would be to subject her to further convictions after her return to Brazil.
In a video posted on social media, Pagnozzi directed his criticism at the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and cited the minister. Gilmar MendesThe defense argues that the information sent to Italian authorities does not reflect what would happen if Zambelli were extradited.
According to the lawyer, Brazil informed the Italian court that it accepts restricting the request to the case related to the weapon. However, the defense argues that the former congresswoman would also face another conviction upon arriving in the country.
“What nobody understood is that this crime, which would be the crime in the gun case, is a semi-open prison crime. But when she arrives in Brazil, she will fall into the clutches of Alexandre de Moraes,” declared Pagnozzi.
The lawyer stated that Zambelli would also serve the ten-year prison sentence imposed by the Supreme Federal Court (STF), a point which, according to him, was not clarified to the Italian authorities. Based on this argument, he said he intends to personally deliver documents to the Italian Minister of Justice.
"I will personally deliver this to the Italian Minister of Justice to show that Brazil is carrying out a legal maneuver to deceive Italy," he stated.
At the end of the video, Pagnozzi asked supporters to share the recording and participate in a petition in defense of the former deputy. According to him, the mobilization will be part of the strategy presented to the Italian authorities.
The statements reflect the position of the defense and occur while the extradition request remains under review in Italy. As of publication, neither the Brazilian Supreme Court nor the Brazilian government has commented on the lawyer's statements.
