O Italian Consulate in Rio de Janeiro inaugurated the Cucina food and wine school, located on the ground floor of the building. Casa D'Itália.
The space will now be part of the consulate's set of initiatives focused on Italian culture in the city. The building, located in the city center, houses commercial offices, the European Institute of Design, and the Institute of Culture. The structure also includes a rooftop area for events, with views of Sugarloaf Mountain, as well as a renovated plaza with a kiosk in its final stages of opening.
According to the consul general Massimiliano IacchiniThe proposal goes beyond cultural promotion. "This is a meeting place for Brazilians and Italians. Getting together around good food, especially with wine, is always better."
The Cucina school will offer courses of a professional, amateur, and social nature. Classes will be taught by chefs such as Michele Petenzi from Alba, Nello Garaventa from Grado, Silvio Podda from Casa do Sardo, Nelson Soares from Sult, and Pierluigi Russo from Bento Pizzeria.
The initiative has the support of partners such as the Zona Sul supermarket, which will have trained employees on site.
According to the consul, the model follows practices already adopted in other Italian representations. "The practice of placing various entities in a location that is part of consulates and embassies happens in other parts of the world. But nothing like Rio."

For an Italian, it's easy to walk to Gaza and find comfort. Il consulato is chiuso agli italiani.
