O CGIE is a representative body of Italian communities abroad and is guaranteed in the Italian Constitution – articles 3 and 35. Until this election, it had three delegates – Cesare Villone (Fortaleza-CE), Rita Blasioli (São Paulo) and Silvia Alciati (Minas Gerais), but will now have the names elected this Saturday as Brazilian representatives.

In the election, members of the committees, elected and co-opted (of Italian descent, but without formal recognition of the Italian citizenship), and designated by the Italian Associations registered in the consular registry, and all Italian citizens residing in Brazil for at least three years.
