A Italian Embassy in Brasilia brings great and long-awaited news to the Italian community in Brazil. From now on, Italian citizens residing in the Consular Circumscription have the opportunity to schedule the issuance of the Electronic Identity Card (CIE), the Italian “RG”.
The novelty was released by the embassy this Monday (18), in a post on its social media.
This initiative, which is experimental in nature, is a response to the growing demands of the Italian community in Brazil and is in line with a global trend towards modernizing consular services.
Other Italian embassies and consulates around the world are already adopting similar measures to make processes more agile and efficient for Italian citizens abroad.
The CIE will allow holders access to a wide range of online services offered by the Public Administration and other bodies. However, it is essential to highlight that, to date, there is no forecast for the implementation of this system in other Italian consulates in Brazil, which serve other states in the country.
Italian citizens residing in Consular Circumscription of the Italian Embassy in Brasília (DF, Goiás, Amapá, Tocantins, Pará, Amazonas, Roraima and Suriname) will be the first to benefit from this innovation in consular services.
Who can apply for an Italian ID card?
To apply for the Electronic Italian Identity Card, you must meet some requirements:

- 5 years for minors between 3 and 18 years old.
