The adoption and, later, abandonment of a Brazilian by an Italian couple are the themes of a book by journalist Valentina Reggiani and the protagonist of the story, Douglas Dall'Asta, which will be launched this Friday (22), at the Phi Hotel Canalgrande in Modena, Italy.

The work “Figlio di Nessuno” (“Nobody’s Son”, in Portuguese) has a text that deals with current issues, such as adoption, abandonment, foster care, prison, the street and support for parenting.

In collaboration with the publisher Incontri and Modenamoremio, the launch of the publication will be attended by the authors, as well as the lawyer who followed the central case of the story, Gianluca Barbiero, and the deputy Stefania Ascari.

Currently 26 years old, Dall'Asta was adopted in Brazil by an Italian couple from Piadena, in the Cremona region, who traveled to the country to pick him up when he was just nine years old. Upon arriving in Italy, however, after just four days in the home of those who were introduced to him as his new parents, he was abandoned for the second time.

From that moment on, what was supposed to mark the beginning of a new life became the beginning of his ordeal: moving from one community to another, life on the streets until he reached maturity, drugs, prison and, above all, the constant search for an identity.

After a long legal battle, the adoptive parents were forced to keep him, as required first by a decision of the Cremona court and subsequently by the Brescia Court of Appeal.

Now, Dall'Asta has decided to tell his story, to bare himself so that no one ever feels “surrendered” like what happened to him. His narrative aims to remind us that every child has the right to a safe and loving family environment, without the burden of abandonment and isolation, and that no other minor should feel like “nobody’s child.”HANDLE)
