The Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte, wished this Thursday (31) a happy New Year to all Italians.
And he stated that 2021 should be a period of “redemption” after the world was affected by the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic in recent months.
In a message published on Facebook, the Italian Prime Minister recalled that, in 2020, everyone knew the pain of losing friends, co-workers and people who were always around every day, side by side.
“We lived through a difficult year. Very difficult. We faced, and are still facing, a very tough test. Many of us have lost our most beloved affections. An entire generation that rebuilt Italy after the war and contributed to the economic miracle was decimated”, recalled the Italian Prime Minister.
According to Conte, the year ending today will not be forgotten, mainly because it was marked by “sacrifices”, suffering and limitations on imaginable freedoms.
However, starting tomorrow, “the time has come to get back to life, to work to reinvent a better society”.
For the Prime Minister of Italy, “the new year must be the year of redemption” and each person must do their part and everyone will have to work together to “recover and relaunch Italy”. “We enter the new year with heavy baggage, a wound that we will not be able to heal. But all this pain, this suffering is not worth the loss of the light of hope”, he concluded. (Put Handle)
