The tennis player Jannik Sinner is consolidating itself as the new great idol of Italian sport, and the support he receives is increasingly impressive.

Proof of this is that his debut in the 2024 ATP Finals, against Australian Alex De Minaur, on Sunday (10), was watched by 2.270.000 viewers.

This number is already remarkable in itself, but it becomes even more impressive when compared to the audience of one of the big Serie A games, such as the clash between Inter Milan and Napoli, which on the same day attracted 1.718.000 viewers.

It is true that the tennis match was broadcast on a free-to-air TV channel, while the football match was shown on a subscription channel, but Sinner's impact on the Italian public is evident.

The tennis player's growing popularity shows the extent of his appeal to fans and his ability to take tennis to the same level of popularity as the greatest sports event from Italy.

Jannik Sinner, 23 years old, is from San Candido, is an Italian city in the province of Bolzano, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region (northern Italy).
