Recognized for his career in football and his contribution to cultural ties between Brazil and Italy, Paulo Roberto Falcao, 71, will receive the Order of the Star of Italy this Wednesday (4), at 19 pm, at the Italian Embassy, in Brasília.
The honor will be presented by the ambassador Alexander Cortese, highlighting the relevance of its history for relations between the two countries.
Falcon shone like Roma player in the 1980s, being a key player in the club's 40-year Italian title drought. More than just an athlete, he became an ambassador of Italian culture, reflecting the integration and mutual respect built during his years in Italy.

“It is more than a title, this award symbolizes the unbreakable bonds I have always maintained with Italy, a country that welcomed me with open arms and where I have experienced unforgettable moments, both professionally and personally. It is a country that has helped me mature as a citizen and as an athlete. Italy is not only a place that has shaped my football career, but also a place that has taught me values such as passion, dedication and the strength of community,” said Falcão.
The Order of the Star of Italy
Created in 1947, the Order of the Star of Italy, or Ordine della Stella d'Italia, recognizes Italian citizens or foreigners who promote the country's culture and values abroad.
This is not the first time Falcão's career has been celebrated. He has been the subject of exhibitions, tributes from Roma, such as his induction into the club's Hall of Fame, and documentaries about his remarkable career.
“Even after four decades since my time at Roma, the affection between me and the Italian nation remains strong and reciprocal, demonstrating how the bonds built through sport can endure over time,” said the former player.

The ceremony promises to be a milestone to reaffirm Falcão's contribution to culture and football, representing a symbolic bridge between Brazil and Italy.
