May reopening month

If the government seems willing to extend the state of emergency for another two months, therefore, until the end of June, everyone is now talking about May as the decisive month for a gradual return to normality. 

“May will probably be a month of reopening. The decision will probably be taken next week by the Council of Ministers”, said Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economic Development.

Mariastella Gelmini, Minister of Regional Affairs, also believes this, reiterating that “we must not get carried away by excessive haste”, even though the reopening must be carried out “in the shortest possible time”. And May “will be the month for the reopening of all economic activities”, also confirmed by the Undersecretary for Relations with Parliament, Deborah Bergamini, to a delegation of restaurant owners.

The vaccination campaign

Everything will depend on data from the vaccination campaign, as the head of government linked the commitment of reopening to the ability to vaccinate everyone over 80 and most of those over 75.
