The town of Milan broke the tourist record last July with 871.418 arrivals, the highest number ever recorded, and has established itself as one of the main destinations in Italy even during the summer.
As a result, the total number of visitors increased by 25% compared to the same period last year and 33% compared to 2019, before the pandemic.
Official data confirm this trend in the metropolitan city and in the province of Monza and Brianza, with a total of 1.175.591 visitors. Since the beginning of the year, there have been around 5 million tourists in the city and just under 6,8 million considering the urban area.
“We can only be satisfied: Milan confirms its attractiveness throughout the year, including the summer months. The almost 900 thousand arrivals registered in July show that our city is not only a business city, but also a perfect destination for holidays, thanks to a quality cultural and entertainment offer, capable of intercepting different interests, starting with passionate about sport”, said Tourism advisor, Martina Riva.
In July, several sporting events were held in Milan, such as the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup and Fencing World Cup. Furthermore, the San Siro racecourse hosted the Fei Jumping European Championship Milan until last Sunday (3), the date on which the GGrand Formula 1 Prize of Italy at the Monza circuit.
