Internal mobility prohibited in red areas. Measures come into force from Thursday
Curfew to 22h throughout Italy and lockdown in the red regions. This was the decision taken by the summit headed by the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte to contain the second wave of the Covid epidemic that is hitting Italy.
According to the draft, which should be approved this Tuesday night (3), the measure will be valid until the next December 3rd, according to the newspaper La Repubblica (read here).
The 22 am - 5 pm Only trips motivated by proven need for work or for health reasons.
As always, it is highly recommended for everyone, throughout the day, not to travel by public or private transport, except for work, study or health reasons.
Schools
High schools, according to the draft, must adopt flexible ways in organizing teaching activities, so that 100% of activities are carried out in integrated digital teaching.
According to the draft, the didactic-pedagogical activity of the first cycle of education must continue to be in person.
Lockdown
In order to combat and contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus, according to the draft decree, the regions of Lombardy, Piedmont and Calabria – currently considered red zones due to the high rate of infections – will be subject to a total lockdown for a period of 15 days.
“Restaurant activities (including bars, pubs, restaurants, ice cream shops) are suspended,” says the draft decree.
Only industries and schools up to sixth grade will remain open. Beauty clinics and hairdressing salons must remain closed.
No lockdown for essential services such as pharmacies and supermarkets, for example.
The measures come into force from Thursday.
Numbers
Italy registered 353 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health bulletin this Tuesday (3).
The figure is the highest since May 6, when 369 deaths were recorded and, considering the numbers since the start of the pandemic in February, there are now 39.412 deaths.
New cases of Covid-19 also rose again and reached 28.244 in just one day, bringing infections to 759.829 since February.
Again, the negative highlight was Lombardy, which had 6.804 infections in one day, followed by Piedmont (3.169), Campania (2.971), Tuscany (2.336), Veneto (2.298) and Lazio (2.209).
There was also a significant increase in the number of people considered cured, of 6.258, bringing the number of cures to 302.275.
