Find the balance between professional and personal life has become an important issue to be considered in the post-pandemic context.

Having time available for leisure and personal activities and, throughout the day, performing professional functions is what many workers want.

According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), harmony between personal and professional life is seen with greater emphasis in European countries.

According to the report, “evidence suggests that long working hours can harm personal health, compromise safety and increase stress.”

According to the OECD ranking - which listed 41 countries among members and potential, such as South Africa, Brazil and Russia ― 10% of workers work 50 hours or more per week. On the other hand, 15 hours, on average, are used for personal activities.

As a criterion for ranking countries, the relationship between hours worked and leisure time over a 24-hour period was counted, on a scale of 0 to 10.

Still in the ranking, Mexico is the country where professionals work the most hours per day. Around 27% of Mexicans work more than 50 hours a week, followed by Turkey (25%) and Colombia (24%).

Brazil ranks 27th in the ranking, despite the average weekly work being below the general average. OECD.

Around 6% of Brazilians work long hours; on the other hand, they also dedicate fewer hours to leisure: just over 14 hours, while the OECD average is 15 hours.
