The country's GDP result in the fourth quarter of 2018 is the worst performance among the 28 EU countries
The National Institute of Statistics (Istat) revised this Tuesday (5) the result of Italy's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the fourth quarter of 2018 from -0,2% to -0,1%.
Although the new calculation reveals a slightly smaller drop than had been announced, the result confirms that the country is in a technical recession, as it has accumulated two consecutive quarters of contraction.
Between July and September, the Italian economy had already fallen by 0,1%. The country's GDP result in the fourth quarter of 2018 is the worst performance among all European Union Member States.
