Italy, Portugal, France, the United Kingdom, Spain and Denmark reached new records for daily cases of covid-29 this Wednesday (19), since the beginning of the pandemic.
Yesterday the World Health Organization (WHO) warned of a “tsunami of cases” due to the simultaneous spread of the Delta and Omicron variants.
Together, the six European countries added more than 638 thousand new cases.
The United Kingdom once again reached a new daily record — the country registered 183.037 new cases of Covid-19.
In the last 24 hours, French authorities have recorded almost 208 thousand new cases.
Portugal also registered a new record, with more 26.867 infections.
A Italy registered 98.020 infections in 24 hours, bringing infections in the country to 5.854.428, reported the daily bulletin from the Ministry of Health. Another 148 deaths associated with the disease were reported.
A Denmark, the country with the most cases of covid-19 in relation to the population worldwide, surpassed the record for new daily cases, with 23.228 in the last 24 hours.
Spain broke the barrier of 100 daily cases for the first time. The country registered 100.760 new cases of covid-19 this Wednesday, according to the newspaper El Pais.
