Windows closed and people locked in the house. Draft of new decree pleases governors
6pm curfew across Italy. Shutters closed and people locked indoors, except for those needing work, health issues or other needs and emergencies, to be proven with self-certification.
This is the new measure being discussed by the Italian government and which may appear in the decree of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who will sign this Monday (2).
First, however, he needs to explain to the Italian Parliament, as published by the portal Corriere della Sera this Sunday.
The measure pleases some governors allied with Conte and the opposition.
Despite the support, the Prime Minister has doubts about the effectiveness of a uniform measure across the entire territory, preferring the hypothesis of rules calibrated to the risk indices of the different regions of the country.
Blocking mobility between Regions, closing shopping centers (at least on weekends) and closing non-essential establishments are also being discussed.
Regarding schools, for the executive, governors must decide whether to switch to distance learning, based on the contamination rate in their territory.
Situation in Italy
This Sunday (1st), Italy registered another 29.907 cases and 208 deaths in the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, bringing the total number of infections and deaths to 709.335 and 38.826, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's bulletin, the numbers are lower than those of last Saturday (31.758 cases and 297 deaths), but Sunday and Monday usually see a reduction in the numbers due to the backlog of data from the weekend.
