Severe weather wreaks havoc in Italy again. The 'flood' that hit the Marche region on the night of Thursday to Friday caused flash floods who destroyed several localities in the provinces of Ancona and Pesaro-Urbino.
According to Civil Protection, in the province of Ancona, up to 400 millimeters of rain fell in a span of 2 and 3 hours. Already in cantiano, other municipalities badly affected by the floods, 420 mm fell in 7 hours.
At least ten people died, but there are people missing. Homes and agricultural properties were destroyed.
One of the Abrupt change in weather had already been predicted in Italy for several days, with the transition of summer temperatures – with values higher than the average for the period – for late autumn temperatures.
They were planned strong thunderstorms after months of severe drought. Now, however, there is controversy over the weather warning, which was yellow and did not include such violent precipitation.
