Winner of the talent show “Amici”, she is successful on Italian radio with “Chega”, singing in Portuguese
There's Brazilian music smashing on Italian radio. And the artist behind it is practically unknown to the Brazilian public. Gaia Gozzi has just won “Amici”, an Italian talent show, with the Portuguese song “Chega”.
Daughter of an Italian father and a Brazilian mother (Luciana Piza, an advertising executive from São Paulo), Gaia speaks Portuguese fluently – without an accent. “I write and sing in Portuguese, Italian, and English. My style is pop, but when it comes to Brazilian music, I prefer what’s called Brazilian Beat,” says the 22-year-old singer.
