The Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli highlighted last Monday (23) the role of culture and music in an international context characterized by wars and conflicts.
The comment was made during the inauguration of a new educational center created by his ABF Foundation in Sforzacosta di Macerata, Italy.
When asked by ANSA about the importance of music, the artist quoted a phrase from Saint Augustine, saying that "whoever sings prays twice." "If prayer has meaning, and I believe it does, then music certainly plays an important role," he emphasized.
Bocelli also emphasized that “I would like music to play the role that it hopes and has always hoped it could play.” “But beyond music, culture in general has an important role, because culture is the element that opens the doors to freedom. Those who do not know how to do this cannot be free to the core,” he concluded.
During the inauguration of the educational center, Bocelli also received honorary citizenship of Macerata, granted by the city's mayor, Sandro Parcaroli, and the president of the city council, Francesco Luciani.
On that occasion, the Italian tenor improvised a musical interlude, sitting at the piano positioned at the entrance to the institute, together with Al Bano and Autieri.
For ABF, the Sforzacosta hub is the fifth intervention in the Marche areas that were affected by the 2016 earthquake and is the result of close collaboration between the public and private sectors. (HANDLE)
