The National Congress launched this Tuesday (6/5) the Brazil-Italy Parliamentary Front, an unprecedented initiative that aims to strengthen commercial relations between the two countries. The federal deputy Luiz Fernando Faria (PSD-MG) was chosen to preside over the front, while the Italian-Mineiro deputy Eros Biondini (PL-MG) will occupy the vice-presidency.
The launch event took place at the Italian embassy and was attended by the president of Câmara dos Deputados, Arthur Lira (PP-AL).
The Brazil-Italy Parliamentary Front, made up of deputies and senators, aims to debate and work on topics of strategic interest for the development of both countries. In addition to strengthening commercial relations, greater collaboration is also sought in the cultural, social and scientific areas.
Luiz Fernando Faria emphasizes the importance of strengthening ties between Brazil and Italy, two world powers, and highlights the positive reception of the leaders of both countries.
“Bringing the relationship between the leadership of these two world powers even closer could result in a significant strengthening of our commercial ties, which are so important for our economies. Furthermore, we seek a more fruitful relationship in the cultural, social and scientific areas. Conversations have already started and the receptivity between the leaders of these two countries has been extraordinary”, says Faria.
Bilateral trade between Italy and Brazil in 2022 reached the mark of 10,4 billion euros, equivalent to around 56,2 billion reais, consolidating itself as the second largest in the world. European Union.
