Spain created a program that offers up to €15.000 to attract new residents. The plan also includes the possibility of obtaining Spanish citizenship in just two years.
The proposal is in effect in the Ambroz Valley, encompassing 24 districts of the Extremadura region. The goal is to repopulate villages with fewer than a thousand inhabitants and stimulate the local economy. as happens in Italian villagesThe focus is on young women who work remotely and have legal residency in the country, or who... European citizenship.
How the incentive works
Those who move to a village in the region and meet the criteria can receive €10.000 upon arrival. After two years of continuous residence, the amount increases by an additional €5.000. To receive the full incentive, it is mandatory to register official residency in the chosen location.
For men, the fees are lower: an initial €8.000 and an additional €4.000 after two years of residence in the village.
For couples, the costs can reach €18.000 initially and rise to €27.000 with the minimum required time, equivalent to approximately R$170.000 at the current exchange rate.
The goal is to reverse the depopulation of the villages.
Towns like Baños de Montemayor are experiencing a population aging. Many houses are empty, there are few children in schools, and local businesses suffer from a lack of customers.
Baños de Montemayor is located approximately 270 kilometers from Madrid and 250 kilometers from Porto, Portugal, facilitating access to major urban centers in both Spain and the neighboring country.
By attracting young residents, the idea is to revitalize services, keep schools open, and boost the regional economy. The new residents also have access to properties with rents below the national average.

Affordable rent and quality of life.
Cities like Hervás, the main urban center of the valley, offer rents between €300 and €400 per month, even in summer. By local standards, paying €350 is considered high.
Products at fairs, markets, and restaurants are more affordable than in major Spanish cities. This makes the cost of living an advantage for those who work online.
A simple life full of curiosities.
Among the details that stand out in the villages are:
- Houses with signs encouraging renovation.
- Water bottles left at the doors.
- Narrow alleyways that serve as shortcuts.
- Large schools for few students.
- Trade in local products such as cheeses, wines and honey.
Public infrastructure includes squares, sports courts, and cultural centers, although the streets are almost always silent.
Spanish passport in two years
Spain is one of the few European countries that allows you to apply for citizenship after two years of legal residency, provided you meet the requirements regarding language, integration, and criminal record.
With a combination of stable internet, low rent, financial incentives, and fast citizenship access, the region has begun to attract remote professionals seeking a high quality of life at a low cost.
For those who wish to better understand daily life in Spanish villages and the details of the incentive program, there is video content available on specialized channels about living in Spain. We have included a video from the channel of... Fe Leal, where he talks in more detail about this subject:

There are so many families in need in
In the world, including Spanish-speaking countries like Venezuela, why don't governments implement a serious repopulation program identifying needy families to offer them greater incentives? Regarding Venezuela, we should launch a campaign: Trump, keep your hands off Venezuela.
