The video documentary “Tutti Buona Gente – The Italian Saga in the Capixaba Mountains” tells the story of Italian immigrants who arrived in Brazil in 1874 and transformed regions such as Venda Nova do Imigrante, in Espírito Santo.
The production features moving accounts from descendants, who share stories about the search for fertile land, the preservation of traditions and the cultural impact left by immigrants on cuisine, festivals and the local way of life.
Stories from descendants keep history alive
The documentary presents testimonies such as that of Cleto Venturim, a descendant of Italians, who describes the journey of the first immigrants in search of fertile lands.
“My father says that the Italians who were already in Alfredo Chaves heard about the lands from above and went up towards what is now the municipality of Venda Nova do Imigrante”, recalls Venturim.
Agrotourism and the tradition of socol
Another highlight of the film is the emergence of agritourism in New Immigrant Sale, inspired by practices observed in Italy. Máximo Lorenção, one of the pioneers of the activity in the region, tells how his family began to produce the socol, a traditional sausage, for sale.
“In the beginning, we made socol just for our own consumption. When they started asking us to sell it, we made 20 pieces. Today, the third generation of the family continues this tradition,” said Lorenção.
A tribute to the Italian heritage in Espírito Santo
“Tutti Buona Gente” is a celebration of the Italian legacy in the mountains of Espírito Santo, showing how the culture and traditions of immigrants continue to live on through gastronomy, festivals and agrotourism.
