A symbolic gesture will mark one of the most anticipated moments of... 60th Grape and Wine Festival, in São Bento de Urânia, a district of Alfredo Chaves, in the south of Espírito SantoApproximately 150 kilograms of grapes will be stomped by participants in the traditional grape stomping event, which takes place next weekend.
The practice dates back to the customs brought by Italian immigrants who colonized the region. It was these families who began cultivating the fruit and producing artisanal wine in the municipality.

The act of crushing grapes with one's feet is part of the winemaking culture of Italian origin. This activity is recreated at the festival as a way to preserve and value the memory of the families who developed grape production in the region.
During the event, local producers will also showcase different types of grapes and wines produced in the district.
Promoting family farming
In addition to grape and wine production, the festival will feature an exhibition and sale of other foods grown in the region.
The public will be able to purchase agricultural products such as yams, sweet potatoes, greens, and vegetables. The initiative seeks to strengthen family farming and highlight the rural production of São Bento de Urânia.
Another traditional moment will be the presentation of the festival's queen and princesses. The ceremony is part of the event's cultural program.

The grape crushing will take place at 13 PM on Sunday, the last day of the festival.
