The daily number of coronavirus deaths continues to decline in Italy: today there were 192 deaths, victims of the new coronavirus.
However, according to data released by the Civil Defense, this Saturday (02), the number totaled 282 extra-hospital deaths that occurred in April, but were registered in the system only today – totaling 474 victims.
The real number for the last 24 hours is lower than yesterday's (269) and for the first time since March 14 (175) it was below 200 deaths.
All indicators continue to move towards reducing contagion in Italy: low ratio between new cases and number of tests, growth in cured cases, reduction in hospitalized patients and drop in occupancy in intensive treatment units.

🢢 79.914 people have recovered from the new coronavirus, with 1.665 cured in the last 24 hours.
⚫️ 192 deaths in the last 24 hours (adds to 282 extra-hospital deaths that occurred in April). In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, Italy has recorded 28.710 deaths.
🟠 100.704 people remain positive for the virus at the moment.
🔴 209.328 people have been infected in total since the start of the pandemic – 1.900 cases in the last 24 hours.
Two days away from easing isolation
After a two-month quarantine, the Italians will be able to walk in parks and visit relativesRestaurants will be able to sell takeout food, and stores will reopen.
Scientists will closely monitor the virus infection rate in this new phase.
Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte warned that if the epidemic grows significantly again, isolation could be imposed again in regions of recurrence.
“We must maintain social distancing, maximum hygiene levels and masks. We did the best we could. From Monday onwards, it will depend on you”, said Commissioner Domenico Arcuri at a press conference. “I beg you, don’t let your guard down.”
Widespread testing
As in other countries, the ability to test the population and the use of masks in public spaces are considered essential to prevent a new wave of contamination. Starting next week, health authorities are expected to carry out around 150 serological tests to detect the presence of the coronavirus in the population and obtain a clearer picture of its rate of spread.
Starting next Monday, around 50 commercial establishments will sell masks at a maximum price of €0,50, set by the government. The number of points of sale will double by mid-month.
Italy will produce 4 million masks per day in mid-June, 25 million in mid-July and 35 million in mid-August, according to Arcuri.
Schools will remain closed until September, but nurseries and kindergartens will be able to reopen in June. The reopening will take place in small groups, of three to six children, aged 0 to 6 years.
The temperature of each student will be checked at the entrance to the establishment, detailed the newspaper “Corriere della Sera”, citing a plan from the Ministry of Education. Only teachers will wear masks.
