Italian citizenship, the consular network, and cultural policies are at the heart of the Continental Meeting of the General Council of Italians Abroad for Latin America. (CGIE)The event started this Thursday (27) and continues until Saturday (29), at Palazzo Garibaldi, in Curitiba.
This is the second time that the capital of Paraná has hosted the meeting since the creation of the CGIE. The first took place in 2014. Similar meetings are held periodically in other regions of the world.
Participants include the Italian ambassador to Brazil, Alessandro Cortese, parliamentarians, and advisors from... CGIE From Latin America.
The elected representatives of Brazil in the CGIE are Daniel Taddone, Walter Petruzziello, Silvia Alciati and Stephania Puton.
During the three-day meeting, the group will discuss the situation of Italian communities in the region, the quality of services provided by consulates, the impacts of legislation on Italian citizenship, and policies to promote the Italian language and culture.
The meeting is scheduled to conclude on Saturday at noon, with the approval of the final document.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Brazilian Intercomites, an informal group that brings together the presidents of the seven existing committees in the country, is scheduled to take place in Curitiba.
