Bolsonaro did not apply for Italian citizenship, says Italian minister

The Brazilian press reported that the former president was seeking Italian citizenship to escape Brazil

O Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, said this Tuesday that he did not believe that the former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro can get the Italian citizenship, and that the former president did not request it.

"He (Bolsonaro) didn’t ask for (citizenship) and I don’t believe he can have it, as far as I’m concerned,” Tajani said in an interview with an Italian radio station.

Brazilian media reported, after radical supporters of Bolsonaro invaded and vandalized the headquarters of the Three Powers on Sunday, that the former president was seeking the Italian citizenship. (Reuters)
