The minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Federal Supreme Court (STF), was harassed by three Brazilians on Friday (14) at Rome International Airport, in Italy. During the incident, the minister's son was attacked by one of those involved.
The Federal Police managed to identify the three attackers: a woman, Andreia Mantovani, and two men, Roberto Mantovani Filho and Alex Zanatta.
Moraes was in Italy with his family to give a talk at University of Siena.
The riot began when Andreia Mantovani insulted the minister, calling him “bandit, communist and bought”. Then, Roberto Mantovani Filho began physical aggression, hitting Moraes' son in the face. The impact was so strong that the young man's glasses fell to the floor.
After the attack, Roberto, Andreia and Alex Zanatta continued to curse.
Roberto Mantovani Filho was a candidate for mayor of Santa Bárbara do Oeste, municipality of São Paulo, for the PL in 2004. He is currently a member of the PSD.
The Federal Police contacted the police attaché in Rome on Saturday (15) to discuss the case with the Italian authorities. Images of the incident may be obtained through an international cooperation agreement.
Those involved were identified by the Federal Police and approached as soon as they landed in Brazil on Saturday morning (15), based on facial recognition.
According to the Penal Code, crimes committed by Brazilians abroad are subject to Brazilian law. The three attackers will respond to a police investigation, opened on Saturday (15).
The investigation aims to investigate the accusations of aggression, threats, insults and defamation made by those involved.
