Drinking good wine during meals or at the end of the day is a whim for many people, not to mention the people who think the habit is chic.
The advice that a glass of wine a day is good for your health is very popular, however, few people know that the real secret of the drink is in the grapes.
Thinking about providing more information about the population's habits, food engineer at Campo Largo – wine brand – Gislaine Santana explained what these substances are and also how they benefit health.
1.Polyphenols
Polyphenols are derived micronutrients present in wine from grapes. “This substance is well known for protecting against chronic and heart diseases and controlling blood sugar levels,” said Santana.
2.Resveratrol
A skin ally, resveratrol is a polyphenol, a substance present in the seeds and skins of black grapes. “The more intense the color of the wine, the greater the amount of this substance,” he said. In addition, the micronutrient forms a “protective film on the skin, which fights free radicals, delaying premature aging”, said the food engineer.
3. Nitric oxide
Wines release nitric oxide, which is very good for digestion. Consuming grapes releases the substance and this relaxes the stomach walls. “A glass of wine before or after meals enhances the absorption of nutrients from food,” said Santana.
4. Procyanidin
Grape seed extract contains a substance called procyanidin and is an ally in preventing cancer. According to her, some studies link procyanidin as something that not only prevents cancer, but also reduces the side effects of chemotherapy on health. “This substance has antioxidant properties that protect cells, also present in grapes”, concluded the expert.
