The Island of Sardinia, known for its stunning beauty, is opening its doors to digital nomads looking for a unique experience. THE Ollolai village, with around 1.579 inhabitants, located in the central part of the island, is offering the chance to work remotely in an idyllic setting for just €1.
Contribution and enjoyment for digital nomads in Italy
Ollolai City Hall is looking for successful professionals willing to contribute to the community as digital nomads in Italy. They launched an innovative campaign to attract talent willing to share their knowledge through presentations, classes or projects related to their areas of expertise.
In exchange for this valuable contribution, participants enjoy an almost free stay in the picturesque Italian village of Ollolai, with the opportunity to experience local culture, enjoy unspoilt nature and taste local cuisine.
Promoting the exchange of experiences with the “Work from Ollolai” program
The “Work from Ollolai” program is an initiative by the municipality of Ollolai that aims to attract experienced professionals to work in the city for a symbolic fee of €1. The objective is to promote the exchange of information and experiences between rural communities and the outside world.
Professionals from a variety of fields are encouraged to apply, from technology to arts and sciences. Participants are invited to contribute to the local community through presentations and talks.
Stay details and registration
Participants can stay at Ollolai for up to 1 month, with exceptions for longer stays assessed on a case-by-case basis. Additional expenses, such as food and utilities, are the responsibility of the participants.
Comfortable accommodation is available in private homes, depending on availability. Applications can be made online until the end of December 2023.
Response to population decline in Ollolai
The village of Ollolai is facing a gradual decrease in its population, a problem that Italy has faced. The “Work from Ollolai” program is part of the municipality’s efforts to attract visitors and digital nomads, thus revitalizing its community. Other initiatives, such as selling houses for €1, have already been successful in attracting foreigners interested in investing in the region.
