In Italy, the local dialects of more than 100 provinces are on the gas pumps.
Modern terminals were installed which, between languages Italian, English, German, Spanish and French, also offer the local dialect, with phrases that express lightness and irony that most Italians use in the family and in informal contexts.
The original initiative, which had already been tested in some stations with positive feedback, is now active in more than 1.700 points of the Italian oil multinational Eni.
Dialect is one of the traditions that distinguishes territories and helps create a feeling of belonging, says the note from Eni. “Thanks to distributors who speak dialect, refueling at the station is enlivened by local expressions that make you smile,” explains the company.
In Veneto, just to give an example, we shouldn't be surprised to hear the digitized voice of the gas station say: “I put it inside I schei and speta” (normally it would be “I entered, soldered and attended").
