Neither Germany nor Finland. The most powerful passport in all of Europe is that of Italy. In the overall ranking, it is the third most powerful in the world, behind only Singapore and Japan.
Having a Italian passport in 2023 means traveling almost effortlessly to most countries, particularly major travel destinations, and even with less hassle than when traveling with any other European Union passport.
According to the new index VisaGuide.World Passport Index, which is the first to rank the world's passports more comprehensively and accurately, based on a carefully constructed formula that takes more factors into consideration, Italy scored 88,28 index points out of 100, while the top two, Singapore and Japan, scored 90,28 and 90,01, respectively.
The Brazilian passport occupies 48th position, with 79.73 points in the index, with access to 120 countries.

41 countries allow Italians to enter with just one ID
The same index also revealed that travelers with Italian citizenship They can enter 41 countries with just a valid identity card, without a visa and without a passport.
This includes the 27 Schengen countries, the four non-Schengen EU member states (Ireland, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Romania), the European microstates (Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican City) as well as third countries .

Italians need a traditional visa for only 28 countries
Of the total number of countries in the world, only 28 require Italians to obtain a traditional visa to enter their territory, which include Japan, Yemen, Nigeria, North Korea, Cuba, Ghana, among others.
On the other hand, Italians can travel without a visa to a total of 100 countries, including destinations such as Barbados, Hong Kong, Israel, Indonesia and Morocco, in addition to the EU and Schengen Area countries mentioned above.
Italians, however, need to apply for a travel authorization online to travel to the United States (ESTA Authorization), Australia, Canada, American Samoa, Guam, New Zealand, Northern Mariana Islands, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka and the Virgin Islands.
