It was to help her son David Banda achieve his dream of being a football player that, in 2017, Madonna moved to Lisbon.
The young man played for the youth team Benfica over three seasons.
“He wanted to play professionally. I did my best to find the best schools with the best coaches, but America lags behind in this area compared to the rest of the world. I saw his frustration and it seemed to me that this was the moment”, said Madonna in 2018.

But the lack of friends in the Portuguese capital left the queen of pop depressed. She stayed with her son in Portugal until October last year, and now it is in the USA that the 15-year-old teenager is trying to establish himself in football.

David is part of the academy at Juventus in Los Angeles and the Italian press describes him as a “Bianconero talent”, enchanted by his strong physical structure.
Proud to see her son on the field, as a center forward, Madonna follows the games and shares some moments on social media.

Last Sunday, at the end of Juventus' “heated game” against Manchester United, Madonna wrote: “Juventus lost!!! But as David said when he left the field: Losing is what makes us champions”.
