Moavero stated that Italy's reputation depends on these citizens

Italian Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero said Italian citizens living abroad are “witnesses of the homeland” in other countries, and “much of Italy’s reputation in the world depends on these communities.

The statement was made this Wednesday (3) during a speech at the opening of the Assembly of the General Council of Italians Abroad (CGIE) in Farnesina.

On the occasion, Moavero recalled that the Italians present abroad are a “community of 6 million citizens, 10% of the population living within the borders of the Republic”.

The minister also highlighted that “Italy and all Italians continue to be welcome and seen positively, with affection and admiration”. “We are not perceived in a negative way.”

Furthermore, he recalled that “there are not only communities of Italian citizens, but also those who have Italian ancestry and this gives our country a positive presence”, added Moavero.

For the Italian, this representation places the country as the second European manufacturer, in addition to being one of the main exporters in Europe. “We continue to be a lively presence in sectors considered positive. Everywhere there is an Italian presence, not only do I see many Italian descendants occupying important positions, but even where there is a limited presence, there is a positive desire for Italy,” he highlighted.

Finally, the Foreign Minister said he believes that the desire to represent Italy in the world and return to the country, if possible, is common to everyone.
