The Italian government wants to develop a project to attract young foreigners to universities in the country.
The initiative was revealed this Thursday (17) by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, during a congress in Rome with Italian schools from all over the world.
In his speech, Tajani said he had spoken with the Ministers of Education, Giuseppe Valditara, and the Minister of the University, Anna Maria Bernini, “to bring to life a very broad project that allows the dissemination of Italian culture, know-how and training throughout the world , but also to attract young non-Italians who can graduate from our universities.”
“It would also be a way to reinforce our cultural diplomacy”, explained the Minister of Foreign Affairs, adding that the government is considering using distance learning to attract foreign students.
Tajani plans to formally present the project on December 20 and 21, during a meeting with Italian ambassadors in Rome.
The minister also defended that Italian schools abroad should be “increasingly open” to students of other nationalities to “better publicize” the country's identity. (Handle).
