For most young Italians, there is no right time to eat spaghetti: 68,6% consume the country's most typical food outside of their usual meals at least once a year, and 37,1% once a month.
Furthermore, 73,4% eat pasta in the early hours of the morning, after a show or a night of partying.
The data comes from the research project “GenZ and pasta: love for food and more”, carried out by the pasta manufacturers of Unione Italiana Food in collaboration with AstraRicerche, on the occasion of National “Spaghettata di mezzanotte” Day.
The date, celebrated on July 5th, celebrates the tradition of eating pasta with olive oil, garlic and pepper in the early hours of the morning.
For those interviewed, even outside the usual hours, the “pasta” maintains the character of coexistence, synonymous with happiness for 32,9% (reaching 38% for women between 24 and 30 years old), relaxation (28,5%) and energy recovery (23,1%).
For 28,9%, late-night pasta is shared as a couple, while 38,6% eat alone.
The most popular midnight format is spaghetti, at 29,1%, followed by penne, at 22,4%. The most popular sauce is tomato, with 33%, surpassing the traditional garlic-olive-pepper sauce, with 30,1%. (HANDLE)
