An Italian woman revealed that she transferred around 15 thousand euros (R$ 92,2 thousand) to a scammer who pretended to be the American star. Brad Pitt on the social networks.
On a local television show, the woman, who was identified only as Stella, said she decided to try to contact the actor on Facebook after having a dream about him.
The woman, however, started a conversation with a “fake” Hollywood star, who began interacting with her and showing interest in her life, as well as empathy for the difficult times she was going through.
“He replied to me immediately, I thought it was a miracle. We talked about his films and other trivial things. Then I told him about myself, that I was depressed, looking for a love story and coming out of a very bad period,” she revealed.
As time went on, the online relationship became more intense. The fake actor began to consider a possible meeting, but explained that he had temporary financial problems that prevented him from covering the travel expenses.
“In my mind, Pitt could help me with work projects, since I am an animal rights activist, so to meet him, I sent him 600 euros to buy a plane ticket. He forwarded me his documents and videos, which I only later realized were made with Artificial Intelligence,” recalled the Italian.
“After that, he told me he was in Germany and his credit cards didn’t work, so I sent him more money,” he added.
After the fake actor made up several pretexts to request additional amounts, the woman realized she had fallen for a scam when she discovered that the real Brad Pitt was in a completely different place than the one mentioned by the “fake”.
Although she felt “cheated” and “deeply humiliated”, Stella even went to Venice to try to meet the artist at the Italian city’s Film Festival, but without success. (HANDLE)
