The town of new venice, in Goiás, should receive more than 120 thousand visitors during the Italian Festival 2024. The event, which is in its 18th edition, will take place 6 the 9 June and promises a program full of regional and national gastronomic and cultural attractions.
Expectations and challenges
During the official launch of the festival, Mayor Valdemar Batista Costa (UB) highlighted the high expectations for this year. “For our municipality, it’s like a 14th salary. All social classes benefit from this festival, and we prepare many months in advance to be able to serve the population that will visit us well”, stated the mayor.

City preparation
The President of Association of Friends of Nova Veneza (Friend), Maria do Carmo, highlighted that the main challenge is to accommodate the large number of visitors in a small city. “Nova Veneza is a small but very welcoming municipality. The biggest challenge is to welcome all our visitors during the four days of the event”, said Maria do Carmo.
Infrastructure and security
With a population of just 2.000 inhabitants, New Venice is transformed during the four days of the festival. Mayor Valdemar explained that the city works together with the local community and the Police to ensure safety and convenience.

Logistics
To avoid congestion, especially for visitors coming from Goiânia, the mayor recommended the use of alternative routes. “I want to warn people, especially from Goiânia, to come through Nerópolis, because traffic through Santo Antônio is very complicated,” he advised.
