O FamilySearch Generations Its free program begins this Friday (26th), which runs until Sunday (28th), with several attractions broadcast online.
The conference has already established itself as the largest genealogy and family history event in Brazil and this will be its second edition. The last edition, which was held in November 2020, had more than 26 thousand registrants and reached more than one million people.
The creator of Italianism and business director of Blessed Citizenship, Reginaldo Maia, was invited to give a practical workshop, opening the program on the second day of the event, Saturday (27), accompanied by Laura Dipp and Salete Mendez, specialists in researching historical records on the website of the FamilySearch.
“It will be a great pleasure to participate in this FamilySearch event, which is renowned in the area in which we operate. I will present information about Italian citizenship and show in practice how to search for certificates in Italy”, says Reginaldo.
INVITED
Other names confirmed inFamilySearch Generations are Aluf Alba Elias, general coordinator of collection processing and preservation at the National Archives, and Jair Mongelli Junior, technical director of the archives at the National Archives. Metropolitan Curia of São Paulo, who will lead a panel on 'Preservation and access of historical documents: advantages of digitization'.
Fábio Falcão Lucas, General Manager of FamilySearch for Brazil, he will also participate explaining how to start preserving family history and records. Businessman Flávio Augusto, founder of WiseUP and Canal Geração de Valor, will speak on the topic 'Stories that unite us', leading to reflection on the impacts of preserving the memories of our ancestors and how to promote family unity with tools available materials and symbols.
They will also be present at theFamilySearch Generations international speaker Daniel Horowitz, Specialized Genealogist at MyHeritage and one of the directors of the Israel Genealogy Research Association (IGRA), debating 'the future of genealogy'. Completing the team of experts, Ricardo di Lazzaro Filho, founder and co-CEO of the Genera laboratory, will speak on biological genealogy together with Dr. Larissa Muniz Falcão, a doctor with a master's degree in Genetic Development from King's College, London.

Bringing a different point of view from the technicians, the singer, songwriter, producer, artistic director, CEO and co-founder together with his brother, Emicida, of LAB Fantasma – an entertainment hub with record label, publisher, event producer and streetwear brands – Evandro Fióti will share during the chat 'finding your African roots' the importance of recognizing your origin, how the legacy of our ancestors influences us today and what we should do to leave it to our descendants. Closing the event, the singer and former participant of The Voice Kids, Nicole Luz, will give a musical performance on Sunday, at 20:00 pm.

FamilySearch collects, preserves, and makes genealogy records from around the world available on its website, free of charge, for use by the general public. FamilySearch also serves more than 5400 family history centers in 135 countries, including the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, United States.
In Brazil, one of the institution's most recent – and audacious – projects is to digitize records relating to the African diaspora in the country, currently in the custody of the National Archives and which includes documents from 1538 to the end of the 19th century.
