The sculptor Salvatore Garau stated that the work is made of “air and spirit”. The sculpture “Io Sono” (Eu Sou, in Portuguese) was recently sold to a private buyer and comes with a certificate of authenticity to prove to “spectators” that the vacant space in front of them is indeed a work of art.

The artist, Garau, 67, is from the island of Sardinia and is well known in Italy for his abstract work, having exhibited his art in several museums in Europe and at the prestigious Venice Biennale. Despite not existing in a physical form, Garau insists that his sculpture is as real as any object that we can see and touch and instead was created as a "vacuum", according to the website hypebeast.

Check out the video that “shows” the work:

Garau went beyond selling digital works, as is the new trend in online market. Digital artists continue to earn a good sum from the sale of NFT artwork, an acronym in English for non-fungible token, which is valid as proof of authenticity of a file in the digital environment.
