Italy's unemployment rate falls to 6% in July, lowest since 2007

Italy's unemployment rate fell to 6,0% in July, the lowest level since June 2007. The drop was 0,3 percentage points compared to June. The data was released this Monday (1st) by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat).

Among young people aged 15 to 24, unemployment fell 1,4 percentage points, reaching 18,7%. The number of unemployed in the country was estimated at 1,532 million, a reduction of 74 people compared to the previous month.

The total number of employed people reached 24,217 million, with 13 thousand new jobs in July and 218 thousand more compared to July 2024.

The occupancy and inactivity rates also rose 0,1 percentage points, reaching 62,8% and 33,2%, respectively.

On social media, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said: “These are encouraging numbers that encourage us to continue with determination along the same path: more opportunities, more work, more growth for Italy.”
