There are almost 17 thousand people cured in Italy; Contaminations remain stable

There are currently 80.572 positive individuals. 16.847 are cured

In Italy, since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, 110.574 people have contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus (4.782 more people than yesterday, with a growth of 4,5%).

Of these, 13.155 died, 727 in the last 24 hours (+ 5,8%), and 16.847 recovered.

Currently, there are 80.572 positive individuals (the count rises to 110.574 – as mentioned above – if there are also dead and cured people in the calculation, that is, counting all the people who have been considered positive for the virus since the beginning of the epidemic).

The data was provided by Civil Protection, this Wednesday (01).

The increase in new cases compared to the previous day can be explained by the greater number of tests: 34.455 against 29.609, as shown in the graph below.

Quarantine extended

The Italian Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, confirmed this Wednesday, the 1st, that the confinement measures, scheduled to end on April 3rd, will be extended until the 13th, which falls on the Monday after Easter, a public holiday in the country.

The government's decision is to extend all measures limiting activities and individual travel adopted so far until April 13th,” he said. Since March 10, citizens of Italy have only been able to leave their homes for proven work, health or family reasons, to buy food or to exercise, as long as this is done individually and in the vicinity of their own residence.

Hospital ready in 10 days

The hospital set up in pavilions 1 and 2 of the Milan fair to care for patients who contracted the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) was delivered this Wednesday. Built in just 10 days, the unit will have 205 beds available for care.

“It is a hospital structure for all intents and purposes, not a field hospital. It will have the largest intensive care department in Italy. It is a great challenge, an unimaginable result, the result of a huge effort and we are happy to manage a structure that has no equal”, stated the general director of Milan Polyclinic, Ezio Belleri.
