A robbery in Milan Central StationThe incident, which occurred on December 29th, ended with an impromptu marriage proposal inside a police station. A 28-year-old Brazilian tourist decided to seal his commitment to his girlfriend when the railway police returned his family ring, which had been stolen.
The couple was en route to Verona, where the young man planned to make the formal proposal. on the famous balcony of Juliet's HouseHowever, while they were waiting for the train, the Brazilian man had his backpack and a suitcase stolen. Inside the backpack was the jewel that was to be used in the marriage proposal.
Thanks to a GPS signal installed in the backpack, agents from the crime prevention department were able to track the items. The perpetrator of the theft, a 35-year-old Algerian citizen in an irregular situation in Italy, was located in a bar on Via dei Transiti while having a drink.
From crime to celebration
The police recovered the belongings and the ring, which were hidden in a shopping cart with the suspect. Upon receiving the jewelry back at the Central Station's complaints office, the Brazilian decided not to wait until he arrived in Verona.
In front of the officers and other attendees, the young man knelt down and proposed right there, transforming the police station into a scene of celebration. The ring, a piece of sentimental value belonging to the young man's family, was finally given to his fiancée.
