Italy placed seven destinations among the top 20 in Europe in the ranking. European Best Destinations 2026The list is compiled based on an international vote that included more than 1,3 million travelers from 154 countries.
The survey considers popularity, quality of tourism offerings, and sustainability. In 2025, the country had not achieved any positions. In 2026, it reappeared in the selection with seven cities.
Italian destinations on the list
In 20th position is Taormina, in the province of Messina. Located on the east coast of Sicily, it is known for its landscapes and beaches.

In 19th place is Procida, an island in the Gulf of Naples characterized by pastel-colored houses and small coves.

The 18th position is occupied by Ravello, on the Amalfi Coast. The destination is known for its views over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the gardens of Villa Rufolo.

In 17th place is Bosa, in Sardinia. The municipality is crossed by the Temo River and boasts beaches and archaeological sites from the Nuragic period.

Cefalù, in the province of Palermo, came in 15th place. The city is one of the best-known seaside resorts in northern Sicily.

In 8th place is Burano, an island in the Venetian lagoon famous for its colorful houses.
