Italian Week starts this Sunday, in Campinas

With an intense cultural and gastronomic program, the 26th Italian Week of Campinas, organized by Casa D'Italia, with the support of the City Hall.

The beginning of the program is marked by the raising of the Flag and the performance of the Italian and Brazilian National Anthems, with the participation of the Pius XI Choir. The ceremony takes place at 9 am, at the Casa D'Italia headquarters (Rua dos Bandeirantes, 367. Cambuí).

On Monday (18), at 16pm, the opening of the exhibition of oil and acrylic paintings on canvas by Sydia Cesare, Piera Carrara and Giusepe Carrara (posthumous), also at Casa D´Italia.

Sport and gastronomy

A Tiradentes Cycling Race, promoted by the Municipal Sports Secretariat, is included in the program of the Italian Community Week. The contest starts at 6:30 am on Thursday, April 21st, and will be held along Avenida Mackenzie, in Sousas.

A special Polentata, and a dinner, prepared by chef Sirlei Jacomini, with a presentation of italian songs with Jorginho Araújo, will be Friday's attractions.

At the end of April 24th, there will be two activities. First, a mass celebrated in Italian, with the Santana Choir, at the São Joaquim and São Roque Church, in the Joaquim Egídio district. Afterwards, there will be a party with typical foods, such as pasta, polenta and sweets, at affordable prices, in Praça Dom Agnello Rossi, in front of the church.
