The income of the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, grew more than 50% in one year, reaching 459.460 euros, equivalent today to R$2,8 million.
The information is in the asset documentation of parliamentarians published on the websites of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate and relating to 2023 – in addition to being prime minister, Meloni is also a deputy.
The previous year, when she became the first woman to govern Italy, the prime minister had declared an income of 293.531 euros (R$1,8 million in current values); in 2021, that figure was 160.706 euros (R$980 thousand).
In addition to her salary as a parliamentarian, the prime minister earned money from sales of her two books: “Io sono Giorgia” (“I am Giorgia”), published in 2021, and “La versione di Giorgia” (“Giorgia’s version”), from 2023.
The income statement does not specify the amount obtained from each source of income, but the salary of a deputy is around 100 thousand euros (R$ 610 thousand) per year. (HANDLE)
