Photographic competition was organized by the European Commission.
Trieste, Saint-Malo, Hamburg, Venice and Cork: these are the five cities that were most portrayed in a photography competition organized by the European Commission whose objective was to locate the 50 most beautiful ports in the Old Continent. Among the 50 images that were selected and awarded with books, tickets to aquariums and even fish and seafood, there are photos of ports mainly in Italy, France, Spain, Germany and Croatia.
The competition, however, received 579 photographs from 234 authors from 24 countries representing 166 European ports between March and May this year to honor Maritime European Day, a date that was celebrated about 5 months ago, on May 18.
In 2016, the port chosen to host the occasion and all the events that arise from it was Turku, the oldest in Finland. In the city, the 10 best photographs from the competition will be on display until the end of the year.
