Research was carried out on the occasion of 'World Happiness Day'
A study was carried out by Deliveroo – a food delivery service – in partnership with Doxa, a market research company, showed that pizza is one of the biggest sources of happiness for Italians.
According to 42% of Italians, pizza is the dish that makes people the happiest. In second place, with 33%, was pasta, followed by grilled meat and fish (30%). Ice cream occupies fourth place, with 21% of the votes. Cheeses (10%) and cold cuts – salamis, hams and sausages – (9%) appear in fifth and sixth places respectively. Only 7% of Italians believe that happiness is found when eating sandwiches and sushi.
The study was conducted with citizens over 15 years of age on the relationship between food consumption and happiness, highlighting dishes that stimulate this feeling.
Analyzing the moments shared at the table, Italians prefer to have their meals next to the person they love (51%), parents (43%), friends (37%) and grandparents (10%). Only 4% of those interviewed said they were happy when eating alone.
The research also revealed that pizza is consumed by more than 6 in every 10 families, around 63%, and the favorite flavor is “Margherita” among at least 45 types.
