Discover Braz Gardini's poem, an Italian-Brazilian, poet and writer. Passionate about things from Italy, he contributes beautiful texts to the descendants of Italians.
Lord God,
Protector of the weakest
Suffering and oppressed,
Thank you for saving
Our beloved ancestors…
Who came from the native land
So dear and distant,
Search this side of the ocean
A new Horizon…
Planting beautiful flowers
In an abandoned garden,
Giving life to so many fields
Where suffering was buried...
These people are so different
With loud, humming voices,
Hid inside the chest
The wounds never healed…
So time passed
Like a mill grinding memories,
Sweat ran on those faces
Transformed into hopes…
The tireless struggle of everyday life
Under the sun and rain,
The feet that supported the body
They also crushed the grapes…
To make the holy wine
That drowned the sad sorrows,
Brought by ships
Taking risks in the waters…
Today we do it back
That uncertain script,
With the same courage
Of those brave warriors…
That make us so proud
Many, many years ago,
May God bless you all
Descendants of Italians.
