10 thousand healthcare professionals were infected in Italy; 120 died

According to the National Federation of the Order of Nursing Professionals (Fnopi) and the National Federation of the Order of Doctors (Fnomceo), more than 10 thousand doctors, nurses and healthcare operators have been infected by the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2).

According to data released this Tuesday (7), Italy has already recorded 120 deaths of doctors and nurses.

Since the start of the Covid-19 emergency, 26 nurses have died and 6.549 have been infected by the coronavirus, according to Fnopi. The federation also highlighted that the sector has the highest number of positive cases among healthcare professionals, with 52%.

According to a report from the Fnomceo, 94 doctors were killed due to the virus. In the last 24 hours, the federation counted five victims.

According to Italian Civil Defense, until yesterday the country had 132.547 confirmed cases of coronavirus, in addition to 16.523 deaths.
