The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia MeloniHe extolled the "roots and identity" of the Italian people in a Christmas message released on social media this Wednesday, the 24th.
In the video, the Prime Minister compared the nativity scene to the values shared by Italian society. According to Meloni, the symbol represents principles that helped shape the national community.
“Believe it or not, this symbol (the nativity scene) speaks of dignity, responsibility, respect for life, and care for those in need. These are values that have shaped our community and deserve to be cherished,” he stated.
According to the Prime Minister, "the nativity scene tells a story, preserves values and strengthens roots." She also highlighted the importance of connecting with the past to face current and future challenges.
"A nation that knows its roots is a nation that is not afraid of confrontation or the future," he declared.
Meloni also reinforced the importance of national pride. "Be proud of your identity," he said, before wishing all Italians "a Christmas of light, calm and strength."
In her message, the Prime Minister added that the Christmas season should serve as a time for unity and solidarity. "May Christmas be a time for us to come together, to look to the future with confidence, without, of course, forgetting those who need help and, above all, without forgetting who we are," she stated.
The day before, after easing internal tensions within the government related to recent budget changes, Meloni released a message to his cabinet staff.
"The past year was difficult for all of us," he said. Then he warned: "But don't worry, because next year will be much worse."
The Prime Minister concluded with a direct message to her team. "So, get plenty of rest during these holidays, because we need to continue providing answers to this extraordinary nation," she stated.
