The classic Romeo and Juliet, by Shakespeare, will become a game. The first 2D video game Made in Italy, inspired by one of the greatest classics in literature, will be called Shakespeare Showdown.
The idea is noble: the objective is to bring young people closer to theater.
In the game, the characters are not avatars, but real actors, reworked in video using the pixel art technique.
In the rewriting of the game, the plot is enriched by the presence of other Shakespearean characters. The game is available for PC from March 27th.
“Shakespeare Showdown is a unique game of its kind, born from the idea of investigating the possible relationships between the language of theater and that of the game, focusing on the spectator as an active participant in the artistic event. In the game, the player continually determines, through their choices, the course of history and their own destiny”, explain project creators Francesca Montanino, Mauro Parrinello and Matteo Sintucci.
